Last Tuesday, while y'all were paying a visit with me at Hootin' Anni's, Bud and I were walking at a park, Blucher Park, in the downtown area of the city. The Park...heavily wooded and natural footpaths throughout, is a great place to sit in silence or walk along listening to the brook and searching for migrating birds in the Spring. Altho migration season is coming to a close while the birds head farther north for the summer months, we did see a Scarlet Tanager among the mulberry trees. At one time, he even cocked his head in a special pose for me. He was a marvelous scarlet red...

I also posted one super photo of the Tanager on my Photo Blog [click on bold text to open in a new window]. Tomorrow for Wednesday's Outdoor and Watery Wednesday meme, I'll continue with photos of trees, bridges, flowers seen on the same morning. Do stop back again tomorrow.
The house at the beginning, now a Bed and Breakfast was once a massive Victorian home owned by George Blucher and his wife Alice. Again, it's located in the heart of downtown, overlooking the bay at one time [now some of the city is obstructing the views of the sea].

I have never seen a Scarlet Tanager. It is a spectacularly beautiful bird. My first thought though was what a shame to have a watermark over his chest.

ReplyDeleteawards to choose,
Happy Tuesday!
I appreciate your friendship!
What a beautiful bird! I must say I'd love to visit you in the spring - forget summer, but spring looks marvelous! Especially when ours is so ridiculous this year!
ReplyDeleteThis is one lovely bird! My father would love to see this one, he loves birds, especially the more exotic and colorful ones. We don't get to see these in Belgium, all we see here is sparrows and blackbirds, not much color in those!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your wedding anniversary, 42 years is a long time, although I'm sure you think they whizzed by!
Belated happy anniversar to you and your husband. 42 years is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary :)
