ACK!!!! All week long I've been really looking forward to the first day of October. Tomorrow, right? Well, ya....duh!!! That means today is the last day of September. It just came to me! It just came to me that since today is September 30th...I have TODAY only to get the car in down to the mechanic/inspector to get the infamous safety sticker for the windshield. Dang.....I just plumb forgot about it. Good thing I noticed that...'cause there is a penalty payment added if I don't get it done by the expiration date. Guess where I'm headed now? It IS 8:30....they should be opened. I hate this....they're always so slow. I'll be sitting around for what'll seem like an eternity!
Where's the car keys? I know I left 'em here somewhere!!

What's on your computer's wallpaper? I oftentimes change mine with the season. My favorite Springtime wallpaper is titled "outdoor" so I figured this would be a good time to show the photo. This, of course, is a cropped version [smaller in pixel size to load a lot quicker for my blog]. I took this photo several years ago at a lake in our city. Actually, it's a lake in a park! And there is a lot of wildlife making their home here. From ducks to geese to other water fowl. If you look closely in the water you may catch a glimpse of turtles. I love how the lake is surrounded with twisted gnarled willow trees...I think the animals do too. I was lucky that day while out walking the park...I caught a few turtles sunning themselves on a branch outcropping....- - -<><><>- - -
Bud and I finished with decorating the interior of the house last night. Everything that we have is out on display. He is contemplating a few things for outdoors, but that, knowing him, will take time. He's more of a perfectionist than I. Anyway....we have a pumpkin corner [in fact two corners, LOL], a ghost section [we don't have too many of those], skull dungeon [the fireplace & mantle], a spot from the living room entertainment center....through the dining room/kitchen area all around to the library we have a Witches Alley. Bud even added a few clouds [with the artificial webbing] in the dining room where he put up a couple of flying witches. So it's done. October first will now be at our home with a spooky flair. Photos of all our work will be forthcoming.
I went and bought the purple lining for my camera bag yesterday and brought that home....we had a downpour when I was out and about...couldn't see the front end of the hood on the car it rained that fast and heavily! Kinda scary...dark as night [it was around 1PM], streets flooding up quickly, and the worst part---maniac drivers who think that their 4 wheel drive vehicles can't hydroplane!!! I was ever so thankful to get back, parked safely in the garage.
While at the fabric store choosing my material, I thought I'd walk over to Barnes n Noble and pick up the book that just came out this month for Bud! I knew he'd appreciate it. He's been wanting to get it since its release. Thing is, I'm sure I'll be the first one to read it. It's by Dan Brown....
I skimmed through the prologue last night. Now my sister lived in Washington D.C. for about ten years, on "D" Street, just blocks from the capitol where she worked for Senator Allot. Part of that time she lived there, I spent some summer months with her. She was single, I was single [but a lot younger than she] and we oftentimes painted the town. I know the area quite well. So, I'm thinking this will be an easy read, and an interesting read for me since it takes place in D.C. According to the prologue, the book is fiction [of course] but like the opening of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid movie Mr. Brown states that most of what follows is true! Well, places, anyway. LOL Has anyone read it yet? Is it good? I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code better than Angels and Demons when I read those....Bud, just the opposite. I just hope it's as good a thriller as the previous two best sellers.- - -<><><>- - -

For Ruby Tuesday this week,
our roses are coming around again
for the Autumn show!!
During the hot summer months,
they bloom, but nothing like when
it's Spring and Autumn
as the temperatures at night
begin to fall lower on the thermometer!
Here, the climbing rose
[Don Juan Pink] is beginning to bloom again.
Off to the left of the blossom
you can see it's climbing
up the pole of the bird feeder.

PS....I didn't have any time yesterday online other than making my post for Monday. Early, we drove to the beach and spent a couple of hours walking and feeding the sea gulls. I had purchased one of those great big metal cans [with Halloween black cats on it and jack-o-lanterns] filled with three kinds of popcorn. Now, I consumed ALL the caramel popcorn almost in one sitting! But the plain, buttered and the cheese flavored had MSG in the ingredients so I didn't eat any of it [as instructed by my cardiologists]....and I didn't want to throw it away, and Bud doesn't like this kind of the packaged kernels, he won't eat any of it...off to the beach we went! Funny too, as we parked the car and got out, the gulls immediately began to follow us....they SAW the bags of treats for them. Seriously. [in the photo, you may notice the two in the 'center'....the darker ones....they are not yet a year old! The gulls that are hatched the past Spring always are more 'brown' than the adult gulls]Then, when we got back home, we started taking all the southwestern decor and the Autumn stuff I had brought out... down from the living room and all my glass dolphins and nautical knick knacks stuff out of the dining room....packed them away. We unpacked the Halloween decorations [eight huge boxes!] and stuffed them in the corner of the library. I vacuumed the entire carpeting throughout the house, and scrubbed the kitchen floor by hand from tracking all the scum/dirt from the garage floor. While I was doing that I did four loads of laundry...and made a home made pepperoni pizza for lunch. When all was packed away and stored in the garage from the living room, dining room and library....it was going on 5 PM...time enough to watch the local news, shower and prepare dinner. That was my day. Busy!!! Sorry, I had no time online at all to visit! since the computer is shut down after 5 PM or I'd be on it 24 hrs a day, trust me!! To those that did stop by yesterday while I was away from the computer....thanks for visiting. I hope to catch up with you this morning!!!

Ending with a little thought running through my mind:
A Pony Express rider could get a letter from Milwaukee to St. Louis in two days, and now it takes three. I'd like to know why!

Just a Monday blog of...stuff...
I worked yesterday some, on making graphics design and the html for my new Halloween blog layout which I will be ready to set 'into motion' on the first of October! It's strange this year. No not the blog design [I'm sure some will think it is, but hey...what the heck, it's my blog!], but the 'strange' is...it's almost October already!!! Seems only yesterday it was the first of Summer!! Anywho, I'm sitting at the computer, trying to think of two women's names. I went through the alphabet from A to Z....mostly going with names that begin with the same letter...like, Hilda and Haley, or Gertie and Gwen, or even Martha and Maude. But being that as I said, from A to Z...I came up with why not just go with an "A" name and then come up with something that is "Z"? Of course, me being an avid viewer of CBS's crime drama, NCIS...it hit me!!! Abby and Ziva [pronounced ZEEvah]. Sure 'nough, it's only coincidence that both names are of Hebrew Origin. Wait! Halloween is Celtic origins isn't it? Yep, it's all dealing with Halloween; my post. In fact to be more specific....Halloween witches. I have this uncontrollable idea in my head that my little ladies of the season should all have names. Go figure. As far as each Autumn goes, my forever collecting of witches of all shapes, sizes and textures still goes on. So far, I have purchased four new witches this year. I love it when the stores come out with them early in the season, way before anyone else gets 'in the mood'. That way, I get a good chance of getting some really neat stuff....early!!! By the time Halloween nears, at the stores, most of the good stuff is gone and picked over to where either they're broken or the not so cute remain on the shelves!! And I don't shop much online unless it's something I want that can't be found in stores...I want to support my community....not some online store where the tax doesn't go back into the city I live!! Yes, you might say, I'm early....but Halloween is a favorite day for me. One of 'em in the year any way. I like ALL holidays equally, but I collect for Halloween AND Christmas....santas. And witches. What a combination, huh? LOL
Now then....going back to Abigail [Abby is the Forensics expert on the program NCIS] and Ziva...she's a special agent. Lethal I might add. [And speaking of the program....wow, that premiere opener was a doozie!!!]
Abby and Ziva---------

Oh and by the way....guess I'm not the only one who likes to buy early for the occasion ....and a couple of the ladies that were surrounding the trick or treat goodies and choosing witches themselves, said to me "You're right...get 'em while it's early before they're picked over". At the time I was at Marshall's there were at least a dozen of us picking out our favorites and getting in line to purchase them. Phewwww, that makes me feel like I'm not the ONLY idiot.
Another new to my collection so far this year is this adorable flickering night light I found at Kirklands in the mall. The witch is sitting on her chair, lounging and reading as her brew bubbles and boils---

...and the 4th witch that is new to my collection [a cute little booger that has a bat covered glass cauldron candle holder!!] is sweet-looking. I haven't resized the photographs yet...when I get them ready to post on a blog post, I will...I'm sure it will be part of my Friday's Show N Tell. Come back on Friday!! LOL
- - -<><><>- - -
Also, yesterday, I added one photo to my Colors of the Wind Photo Blog [a mockingbird - zoom lens photo]. And while Bud was watching the Houston Texans football game, I was sitting in the living room with him and continuing my work on my crocheted camera bag. I'm nearly done. I've finished the bag [this is the 2nd one I did...the 1st one was axed...didn't turn out like I had planned; didn't like it at all!], and started working on the drawstring. The other day I finished making the shoulder strap [flowers!] and trimmed this bag in purple. Since I nearly ran out of my purple yarn scraps with the first one. When all the pieces are put together, I'll line it with hopefully something PURPLE. LOL It's gonna be much lighter in weight for my shoulders in case I end up carrying it around with me all day. When done, I'll post photos of the project.

Y'know, after reading your blog entry on Jim Henson, it inspired a couple hours' conversation between Bud and me!! How fond we were of Sesame Street and his wonderful creations. I might add, that we did like Oscar the Grouch too! LOLOLOL

Sunday Stealing: A Fall Meme
It’s not really fall in [ I assume here is where we add our part of the world...so, Texas. It's not really Fall in Texas ....] until... hurricane season is over.
What did you need to do in the waning days of summer for it to feel complete? Go outside, test the temps, feel the brisk Autumn morning air for our coastal area...these are the waning days of summer; and the hot temps won't be back 'til next year, and I can pick up where I left off...making a complete circle around the area; walking.
A person I know was wrong for me but about whom I frequently thought after a break-up was...I never had a 'break up' except for a mutual agreement to wait 'til he got back home from serving in Viet Nam....it was more than a break up...it was he was KIA. Still, I've never had a breakdown either.
If you could only attend one major sporting event what would it be? A World Series at the Yankee Stadium--and get Derek Jeter's autograph & photo of him with me.
Assuming that you write an anonymous or partially anonymous blog, by what non-physically [I think this is meant to read 'non-physical'] identifying characteristics might you be identified in a bar? I'd post on my blog that I'd be wearing a purple amethyst flower broach on my left collar if we were to meet. Then, I'd have to go and buy one said amethyst pin.
Most blogs cover some sort of niche – personal, political, dating, culinary, etc. What topic, if any, would you like to address on your blog but doesn’t fit into your niche? Nuttin' Huny!! I post what I want, when I want, how I want. But that is what blogging is all about. Rant, show off, discuss, diary, everything under the sun. To me, one certain genre 24/7/365 would be boring. The one thing I've not done much about is religion. As the quote on my sidebar says, it says it as I see it... My God is MINE!! As is yours. I won't preach my beliefs in religion to anyone.
If you could manipulate the time space continuum and give as many as three pieces of advice to a younger version of yourself, what advice would you give and to what age of you? Well, first off, I've been happy with my life...all my life. So changing it wouldn't be sufficient...why fix something that isn't broken. I guess if I could go back in time I'd say to myself...do what you do and you'll get by.
Who among your friends do you really wish had a blog because their stories, or perspective on something ought to be shared? My best friend Teri made a blog about the same time I did but never posted....it's not her interest. I'd like to have her express a lot of things...but, just can't persuade her. She just isn't IN to computers, period.
If you were to take an e-cation (vacation from the trappings of our electronic world,) and assuming that employment obligations would allow it, how long of a break could you take? What would you miss the most, the least? I've taken several 'times-out' from blogging and the computer. And I don't like phones....oh and the employment obligations are nill....I don't understand the relationship some have with a computer/laptop...they're NOT a necessity of living in my opinion. I would NOT take any computer/laptop on a trip!!!! What's the idea of a vacation if you make your daily routine part of the vacation? I just don't get it. Vacation is a break to GET AWAY from ROUTINE!!
On September 11th of this year, I attended a couple of parties and was somewhat conflicted by the fact that this ignoble anniversary shall pass with it being just another day in the eyes of many (and in some ways my own eyes as well.) Thoughts? For me....personally....TOO MANY questions still unanswered, and government lies!!!
How high are your walls? Who was the last person to scale them? What tools should would-be climbers have on their belt? I am assuming that 'walls' are some obstacle I've been challenged with during a lifetime? I think by now, in my life, I've conquered many HIGH walls. And I won't let the wall be a barrier. The tools are simple...happiness, laughter [a lot of humor and enjoying that humor], an attitude that my own will will break over the top....sooner or later. I try not to catastrophize [I used to all the time and the wall a lot of those times...was fear of the unknown...]. Each day I wake up, that is a wall that is climbed. And the 'tools' for other climbers....my advise? It would be to carry on your belt happiness and strength to get where you want to go!!
The sexiest thing a man or a woman can say to you (or has said to you) is: "You look just like one of the ladies in Playb*oy...."

*scanned from Bud's collection [yes he has folders of her in cartoons!]
These questions were odd in a way, but deep in meaning I think. Once I got going with them...the seriousness in me came out [at least up until the last question!]. A good challenge this week. At first, very ill worded...then, working with them...they made sense afterall.

Photo Hunt theme: TWISTED
I'm always looking, this time of year, for creative pieces for celebrating Halloween. It's almost become a tradition that I make a big pot of chili for Halloween dinner along with crazy bread [a mixture of bread dough, cheddar cheese, jalapeno peppers, onion and egg white] where I chop the dough and other ingredients on a chopping board, let it rise as is and then bake it where it browns well and serve the chili, crazy bread, with a tossed salad. Then, for dessert it's usually a hot fudge sundae. For years, I've done this. But this year, it just may be a bit different. "Chili Dogs" are good too. And when at Wal Mart the other day, I saw this magazine cover and it looks like FUN for Halloween. In a TWISTED way!!
Mummy Dogs!!-----------

And of course, for me, I'll make 'em with Turkey franks...much less fat and the bad cholesterol is mostly non-existent.

CAMERA CRITTER...Black and Red and cute all over!!

And since my Photo Hunt Photo above is of a Halloween theme...I thought I'd carry off a Camera Critter photo to coincide with the previous section of my blog today! Of course, I only have grandSONS, but I tellya, if they were really small again [my youngest G-son is 13], and they lived nearby instead of a 1000 miles away, I'd be tempted to buy this and make his life a bit traumatized. [kidding!] Oh how I would adore a small little one that I could call grandDAUGHTER!! She'd be the sparkle of my eye to be sure. And I would have snatched this 'critter costume' for her to wear in October!! This is by far, the cutest ladybug I've seen!!! Anybody got a G-daughter I can borrow for Halloween? Adorable, or what?
- - -<><><>- - -
Again, it's Autumn, a highlight season for me....
'Tis Football Season in America. Autumn is also time for the Fall Classic [the baseball World Series]. From Little Leagues to Major Leagues you feel the rush of the competition. Yet, in all the turmoil of the world these days, and what you hear, read, view is most constantly the 'bad to worse'!! I read this story, and bawled....
- "We weren't sure how gloomy they would be before the game," Morgan said. "They had gloom, but it was not as bad as we thought. We met before the game, and they told us that they did not want us to feel sorry for them, and they did not want us to back off just because of what happened. They wanted us to play them like we would have if Duffy has still been there with them, so we did."
It's sad, it's downright respectful of the human being and friend! You should read it. There IS STILL the Good in this World we live in. But, you may want a tissue.......

SHOW N TELL

Against our south wall in our dining room, we have a signed and numbered print of dolphins in the sea. It was a 'must have' when I saw it. I had Bud make me a sea mist gray stained frame and I cut and made the matting and added sparkles to it as the water sometimes sparkles in the sunlight.... the 2nd photo on top has an outline showing the number of print #273/850. The artist's signature is Randall Scott [he is quite a wonderful marinelife artist!!] A lot can be viewed online. A great talent! A scuba diver, he paints what he finds while diving, mostly....
As dolphins are something I've been interested in for years, and getting a chance of actually touching them [tho the stingray was nearly as silky feeling as the dolphins, I'd much prefer the dolphins!]...I felt a special bond and just wanted this painting so badly. These are the best I could do with the camera for closeups without the flash glare. Can you feel the emotion and the friendship of these creatures as I can? Stepping up close and getting personal, even in the painting above I just can't help but smile and feel comfort watching the face come alive. It's like a magical aquarium in our home; nearly covering the entire width of the wall.- - -<><><>- - -
FLASH 55

As her foothold broke
the forest mists,
she entered a new world.
The clearing gave her relief.
Still she was lost...
In front of her with
each step taken, she looked ahead.
Beyond, was a new world...
something to explore and learn.
The mist left behind,
continuing forward....
LIFE; each step, drifting
toward the unknown.

Thursday 13 first...
Over the past weekend, I read about Drew Barrymore, a favorite of mine since her quotable line from the movie, E. T. ----"Alligators in the Sewer". She was adorable back then as a child star; she remains "adorable' to me today. But it got me thinking. Just what are the child stars of yesterday doing...how do they look by comparison from 'back then' to now? I dedicate my 13 list to the childhood actors of decades ago. The combined images I made after searching on Google for photos to make this week's composition... [all images have mouseover captions to identify them ---just in case you've lived under a rock all these years----or you'd like to know the 'child' side of the image; the 'circa'. LOL, kidding on the part where you're under a rock!]
The first one of course, will be Drew ---

Next, my Thursday Thunks answers:
1. Does soap or shampoo have to really lather up for you to feel that it cleaned thoroughly? Yep, yep....I need to be all hot and lathered up.
2. Do you have a long standing joke with someone that you still laugh about every time you talk to that person? There ARE some with whom we've shared very good memorable jokes...but laughing right away wouldn't be the thing to do. Eventually if it got around to the certain subject, be it IN the joke or not, perhaps. [like my daughter as a teen, making guacamole and using the blender...and the avocado....SEED and all!!!] Now, if you had asked if there is someone that IS a joke, well........
3. Share something that happened to you this past week that was unusual. Unusual for THIS year this past week...I walked in the rain and got wet! I so enjoyed it!!!
4. If you dropped a purple crayon and a green crayon off a roof, which would melt faster in the sun? Let me approach this as scientifically as possible. You get purple by mixing red and blue. And green by mixing blue and yellow. Now red and yellow are hot colors while blue is cold. So, I would say the purple would melt quicker 'cause red is hotter than yellow! Yes? But still, I can vision a blow torch which has blue in the flame before it has the white...so THAT blue is HOT....yep, blue [torch flame] and red mixed [which is hotter of the two yellow and red]....the purple definitely!!! Simply stated: Dark colors absorb heat faster. ROFLmao.
5. You are standing in line (grocery store, bank, etc.), and someone gets in line behind you that stinks. The stink is so bad that people in line in front of you turn around and look to see if you are the one causing the stink. Do you cover your nose, hold your breath, breathe through your mouth or just get out of line altogether? If the others ahead of me looked at ME with that 'questioning look'...I'd roll my eyes and nod my head discretely toward the back of me. Then, I'd probably tell the stinker!!!
6. If you dropped your cell phone in the toilet, would you fish it out? If so, how much soap would you use to wash your hands afterwards? You're kidding, right? First, I don't use the phone much. In fact I use the phone about once a week if that much. So, I ask what I'd be doing with the phone in the restroom in the first place!!! Now I'm trying to picture just what "Joe the Plumber" would do. You know Joe? Remember? But really...I wouldn't have the phone in there with me while doing my business in the first place. So, it just ain't happenin' here!!!
7. Sydney Australia dust storm. How long do you think it would take you to clean your house after that sort of dust storm? Well, after I pasted the meme's questions for the day onto my blog the link is no longer active. So, can't say. But, I'd check in with FEMA...heck, the house is a mess anyway, I'm sure FEMA wouldn't make it any worse, depends on their assisted funds....oh my....my guesstimation then, would be YEARS!!
8. Do you think you can dance? I KNOW I can dance. Well, used to dance...I haven't been dancing in years. And NOT today's dances. The last time I went dancing, the TWIST and the Mashed Potatoes were en vogue. The old world dances like the tango the fox trot...yessiree.
9. You are out to eat and someone across the room is staring at you. Do you get paranoid, try to ignore them, or go find out why they are staring at you? I probably wouldn't even notice since I'd be talking with whomever I'm dining at the time [and if I'm alone, I'd be reading or glancing out the window before the food arrived to the table and not notice either], and then EATING! I normally don't pay attention to other patrons in the restaurant anywho!!!
Now, I'm supposed to:
10. Come up with a crazy, wacky Thursday Thunk question....
Here goes:
You're sleeping in the nude....naked....birthday suit. The fire alarm goes off in the house, you see flames just beyond your bedroom door. You hear sirens from down the street, outside, the neighborhood is filling up with people surrounding your house...What do you do?

MY WEDNESDAY meme photo follows below my rant.....
I'm a wuss!!! After having nearly 100 degrees each day for the last 3 months or so...I'm freezing my toochie off this morning. And to think, 15 years or so in the bygone days of Colorado living, this would be shorts and shirt sleeve weather!!! Not any more. I need my long johns!! But, in all reality, we got a nice rainstorm yesterday, and it's overcast right now [6AM]...and I WILL enjoy the cool. But I'll need to put my shorts away for the day and get some longer legs...JEANS!! And probably a sweatshirt!! ROFL At least 'til midmorning!! When the ol' temp shows me it's nearing the 80 degree mark. The winds this morning and the dampness from the storms yesterday make it feel
like low 60s or even maybe kinda sorta...the high 50s?!!! I AM a wuss!!

As Will Smith says in Men in Black...."This is the best of the best of the best!!" Here we are, lazing on the beach, enjoying the scenery, the sounds, the salt air! We sat up our beach chairs to spend a few hours on the sand while reading our books...taking in some rays, listening to the surf lull us into relaxation...just making the most of the warm sun. After a while, I get up to move around, walk some along the beach. I walk for about half n hour, and turn around to return and read more. As I approach where we parked, ummmmm....I walk up on this guy who looked familiar! Was he snoring? Yes indeedy!!!! So much for the beautiful sea.... And, shhhhhh, he doesn't know I posted this of him. I'll get into so much trou-u-u-u-ble!! Hehehehe. Ask me if I care. If I had a dollar each time I ticked him off with my silly antics, I'd be rich. Rich, I tellya!!!
What happens in blogland....STAYS in blogland, right?!! I got your word on it?!! I see you shaking your head with a positive motion in agreement!!! [Wait! I do see some of you with your fingers crossed! No fair!!]

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and lose), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM." He left it where he knew she would find it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't come to wake him up, when he noticed a piece of paper by his bedside. The paper said, "It is 5:00 AM. Wake up." Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

Ahoy, matey!!! If you frequently visit, you know by now that our dining room is normally done in nautical motif/decor [exception for holidays]. For the window covering, I have horizontal Venetian Blinds and then, I've 'swagged' fish net on each side of the window frame. For tiebacks I use the nautical boat glass floats [aka witches balls]...tied in jute. The glass floats have been intertwined in fish netting and shrimpers and sailors superstitions thought they warded off evil spirits on the high seas, keeping danger at bay. Today, as in Celtic history they were used to ward off a witch's evil doings by hanging them at the threshold or near a window opening. I have used two colors, red and green...as in a boat's or ship's navigation safety. Red on the port side...[left] ---someone told me long ago, that port has four letters as does LEFT, this way you can keep it straight in your mind [port vs. starboard]; green is starboard. This is as you approach head on. [There is also a nautical law that your ship/ be it airship or seaworthy, there should be a white light at the rear. So, my Ruby Tuesday is the port side of the window!!- - -<><><>- - -

In Downtown Corpus Christi, you can walk along a street that butts against the Bay and near the end...just feet from the Ships' Channel and Harbor Bridge, you can see a street that runs on the northeastern and quickly curves more northwesterly at the outskirts of the business district of the city. At this point you're technically at the beginning of one of Texas' massive Interstate Highway systems...it's Numbered....Interstate 37. And it ends at San Antonio. On your right as you make a left off the coastal boulevard in town, heading north you'll see the mile marker "0" While walking downtown the other day, I was wondering if perhaps this is the shortest Interstate Highway. Well, it's not even close. [Shortest (signed - posted): 1.06 mi (1.71 km): I-375 in downtown Detroit, Michigan.] Tho I-37 is only 143 miles from point A to point B.
While searching for the shortest Interstate highway, I came upon Wikipedia's page and read some....President Dwight D. Eisenhower, championed its formation. The entire system, as of 2006, has a total length of 46,876 miles (75,440 km), making it both the largest highway system in the world and the largest public works project in history. The Interstate Highway System is a subsystem of the National Highway System. The northernmost point is respectively on degree marker 49...which has Washington State, Montana, and North Dakota's interstates. The southernmost is H-1...Interstate Highway on the Island of Oahu. [it's only reported as being 1/2 mile long...so, wouldn't that be the 'shortest' instead of Michigan? I'm not sure why...maybe it's not a posted-signed...I'm just reading folks...that's what it says here.] The lowest on land is in California...but there is a section of Interstate that goes UNDER water in Maryland too! The longest, now get this...is I-90!! At over 3 thousand miles it covers area from Massachusetts to Washington state. The widest, being 15 lanes deep is in Atlanta Georgia and the narrowest is two lanes in New Hampshire. State with the MOST interstate highways is TEXAS!! There, I knew Texas wouldn't be left out. Finally, I found Texas in the stats. LOLOLOL
