A walk in the yard showing off all the 'whimsical' things, and some more flowers [are y'all tired of me posting posies yet? Y'know during the spring and summer months...it's all about flower gardens in our yard...] the 'trinkets' are mostly hidden until you're right up on 'em. Thing is, we still have a lot packed away. Our yard is much smaller than the one we had in Tucson. There just isn't room for it all. We've trashed some, we've packed others, and we've given other things away. But anyhow, I thought I'd do a walk about...

First, on the west edge of our patio we have a plant...a yellow trumpet. I've seen others in our neighborhood that are large enough to be considered small trees. I always cut it down over the few years we've lived here...goes to show you what I know. Maybe now I'll let it grow higher. Who knows. I do like the compactness of trimming it down tho...

We have accent lighting around the flower beds for the effect. Among our rose flower bed is a hidden Frog...with a dragon fly on his tongue...

In the corner by a huge tree and pyracantha bush is some stuff of the 'oriental flair'...a couple of iron pagoda candle lights and a few white figurines among the orange flowering bush [I can't recall the specific name for it...it starts with an "I"] and the purple geisha girl flowering bush...

We have a few pots with flowering annuals, hidden among the flowers miniature gnomes and fairies...

10. Do you prefer Chinese food over pizza? No way...love both, but would opt for pizza if given a choice. Actually, I cook my own 'Chinese' food....when you go out, they usually cook Chinese with MSG...that's lethal.

11. What are you doing tomorrow? Probably grocery shopping.

12. What do you think of when you hear Australia? Hugh Jackman

13. Biggest annoyance right now? I have this electrical outlet that I use to charge the cellphone...and I keep plugging it in....and the top socket is burned out!! [a creature of habit]

15. Do you have a maid service clean your house? Ya...most definitely. It's called Anni's House Cleaning Extraordinaire ...

16. Are you jealous of anyone? No way....why? Well, I may say I'm jealous of someone, but in all reality,.........I'm not.

17. Is anyone jealous of you? Dunno

18. What do you usually do during the day? Computer, crafts, shopping, eating, cleaning, reading...you name it.

19. Do you hate anyone that you know right now? Again....why? That's a waste of life...my motto....don't hate.

20. Are you thinking about someone right now? Yep, I need to call Irene. There's a project I'm tinking of doing and it's about Irene. Need to ask her a few things first....so I can begin.


NOTE: I guess I should clarify this one photo ABOVE, IN MY FLOWERS SECTION OF MY POST TODAY...it's not moonflowers --the kind that bloom at night. Nor does it have fragrance...it blooms all day long. To clarify it, they're not just yellow trumpets...their common name is Angel Trumpets. They are grown in white, purple, pink [salmon] and yellow.

So many times I hear this. Lately I've been reading in my comments that I 'favor' my mother's looks. I guess y'all are seeing the sidebar sepia photo I added a few months ago of my mom at the age of 18. Bud is constantly telling me that I too look like her...'a spittin' image'. [He and she had a great rapport] My dad told me many-a-times, as well as my sister.

Today, the subject is books. Since it's the time of year that many are graduating from high school, I thought I'd share a book of mine...my senior school yearbook. [42 years ago tomorrow I graduated from high school, May 31st, you do the math!]

I then took my senior portrait [a different angled shot than the one I chose for the yearbook...my mom picked the one below for my Senior Picture for the house/frame] and added my mom's photo into it. I swear, when I look in the mirror and see the old lady's reflection, of me today, I do see my mom. Not that she was 'old'....well, years tend to change my perspective, y'know?

They're VERY dusty...they've been around for nearly 30 years. They're a couple of Erik's toys. I guess some would consider them collector's items by now. Since his days in the Marine Corps, when he wanted me to take them to Goodwill, I packed them away for him for his "someday you may want them". But, now that he's been moved out for over a decade, he still doesn't want them. I, of course, continue to keep them. [He DID take all his Star Wars Action Figures when he moved from Denver to Houston...he probably sold them on Ebay, knowing him.]

We got some more rain! The clouds rolled, got dark and ominous. Thunder clapped, lightning resounded over a long period...it was wonderful. It's funny, living in the subtropics and we're in a deep drought, and the rain is wanted so badly....everything was perfect yesterday afternoon. The morning began very still, hot and humid. We'd walk out the door and break out in a sweat; doing nothing....I knew it was coming. This area needs it!!

And the weather forecast for today is more of the same. Let 'er rip!! There is nothing like rainstorms on such parched land. We, in our area of the city, got about an hour and half of steady precipitation. The county on a whole is about 8 inches below normal of moisture. So, all we can get is much appreciated. Which made me think, during the storm yesterday, it's nearing that time of year again...hurricane season starts June 1st. I added my hurricane watch link on my sidebar. Bud and I will need to 'stock up' on essentials soon.

Well, I then thought I'd go out and find some odd cross bred animals for my 13 subjects this week. I found one site that was incredibly odd, and eerie at the same time. The photography work on these photos [or effects, I haven't a clue on the concept of 'how'] is amazing.....

I had to go out early Tuesday morning and get my 6 month blood work done. While I was out there, Bud dropped me off so he could go pick up some lag screws for the wood project from yesterday...the angled pieces still needed attached to the box. And in order to save on gas consumption, we 'killed two birds with one stone" so to speak.

When he came back to pick me up, he had this in the back of the car! I've always wanted one. I see them in bloom around town here and just think the flowers are so breathtaking, I wanted one now for a couple of years and never seemed to find any. When I let out a squeal of delight after I read the tag....he said to me: "It was the last one, too." After putting the lag screws in, I planted it....according to the slip tied on the tree, it takes 2 years for it to produce fruit. I love to eat 'em too!!


LOL...what we saved on gas, didn't even compare to the price of this. This just cracks me up.
