SHOW N TELL

Today, it's all about Thanksgiving! This is my dining-room tabletop centerpiece with the basket-weave cornucopia. I filled it with some of my orange, wine and green glitter-dusted leaves and set a small stuffed patchwork turkey in the opening. I also have two white turkey napkin rings with the yellow and oranges of Autumn in the napkin print. Also, I have two ceramic Autumn wire-winged Angels...

In the living room, on the coffee table, I have a small real pumpkin along with my cracked glass, autumn colored votive candle holders [the candles are pumpkin spice scented], two resin Native Americans, the lady and man....then, behind them I placed a clear vase with acorns and pecans that I collected for the season and added small colored green, gold and orange balls. There is a leafless branch I picked up and cleaned and polished added for dimension....shown, in close-ups below-

On the fireplace mantel I added just a couple of colorful ceramic turkeys among my brass candleholders, and on a corner table grouping I added some seasonal flowers in a emerald colored vase along with two crystal dishes. One is filled with the Autumn colored acrylic acorns.

FLASH FICTION 55

"Mo", an old man of ninety-three,
resides in a nursing home.
He loves chasing young pretty nurses, you see!
Some will patronize him,
Still, others will flee...

While walking the halls; visiting the aged,
I overhear giggles coming from the storage room door - Open 'n' free!

I sneak closer, when comes this plea....
"Elmo! Tickle me!!"

and anni dear, your decorations are once again superb. if i ever get to that continent of yours, and i am able and allowed to visit, it sure is gonna coincide with one of your festive events. i HAVE to see it for real just once...

  13. I love this, very festive. I wish I could get in the holiday spirit, it's 80+ here today and this warmer weather during the holidays just kills the mood. South FL is great for a get-a-way but living here makes you miss snow!

  21. Hello Anni,
Seeing your post I thought that decorating is not only about embelishment or our personal aesthetic satisfaction. It is also a way of making our mark and acknowledging our own lives and the world around us. And you just did that. Thank you and be blessed and happy.

  32. Such delightful Thanksgiving decorations you have! I especially love your little patchwork turkey, it's so darling:-) No doubt you are anxious for Thanksgiving to arrive so that you can then start decorating for Christmas. I think I'm going to slowly start taking some things out over the next couple of weeks. I'd rather do that than take everything out on the same day and be exhausted afterwards!

Loved your Flash Fiction 55...I so love Elmo! hehe xoxo
