“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

This week's photo hunt category is "Scary".
Oh me, oh my. Can this be more difficult to come up with something? NOT!!
Let me see, let me see...what to do...
Scary, Halloween...they go hand in hand around here.

Here---

scary written words:

..."But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.' "
    ~Poe & 'The Raven'

and HERE---

scary written movie scripts:

  4. I LOVE scary movies...I have, ever since I was a little girl. My two boys take after me, they love watching them too:-) I usually go to bed with a lamp on after watching one but I still love horror movies! LOL The other night I woke up around 3 AM and was having a hard time falling back asleep so I put the tv on...Halloween 3 was on and I watched it...so much for getting back to sleep! hehe Have a great weekend my friend. xoxo

  9. Anni,

Well, this is certainly a scary post. I love the Edgar Allen Poe book with the picture of the Raven.

I'm not a fan of scary movies, but Dwight certainly is and Michelle too. Once her exam is over tomorrow, she will be watching Halloween movies for the entire week. hehe

Take care, my friend and have a great weekend. When you have time, check out my giveaway.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  16. Young children have a penchant for scary movies. Here in the Philippines (or in Asia) Japanese scary movies are hits among the young people.

And loved your photo of scary movies!

  26. Funny thing... I don't LIKE scary... but I always enjoyed The Raven. (speaking of which there is one sitting outside my window as I type! How odd.) BUT... EAP had two that just TERRIFIED me! One was the "popular" The Pit and The Pendulum ... UGH! How I HATED that story!!! The other - which plays on my claustrophobia - was The Premature Burial. The man definitely had a twisted mind!

  27. No shrinking arms on ME, Anni! Just a BUM BUM knee! I have 7 more cabinet doors to paint and the floor trim. That's IT! And yesterday my knee hurt so bad I couldn't even stand on it - so NOTHING got done. The floor trim is going to have to wait until the knee is MUCH healed! It just can not do all that bending and getting up and down to do it. I hate this...

  28. That's a great post, but no more than I'd expect over here! I love "Sleepy Hollow"!

  29. Ewww! That is definitely scary!

  30. These are great choices for our scary theme. Edgar Allen Poe felt like short stories should only convey one single emotion at a time. And he was a master at conveying "scary" don't you think!

    Nice job on The Hunt!

  31. Mom does not allow any askeery movies in the house so we have not seen any of those. We love Ravens though! They are lots of fun to try to catch. hahaha!

  32. Weird but true: I like the dark wooded table that you've set the items on to take photos of! ;b

  37. I've tweaked the embedded comments 'cause LibertyBelle has told me she is having problems getting her comment to remain. I'm thinking it's blogger's html text not working properly with Internet Explorer. So, after tweaking the code a bit, I ventured out to Internet Explorer, which is not my browser default choice, and am trying to see if it will now take the comment from me [which it didn't before the tweaking was done in IE] Keeping my fingers crossed. 'Cause, I really LIKE the inline comments.

  41. Leave it to you to come up with such a wonderful collection of 'scary' things ! I was a bit more 'literal' when I combined Photo Hunt with Camera Critters at Small Reflections this morning, but I also included a bit of Halloween fun in my Smiley Saturday ;--)

  45. I love halloween! Love the photos you posted too.
Been out of the groove the past couple months. Our brother is still hanging in there with the pancreatic cancer, although he is going downhill more each day. Becci-PowersTwinB has been spending a lot of time with him, along with other sisters, so she hasn't had time to do photohunt for quite a while.
    Have a great weekend.

  51. Hi Anni. I love watching horror films but I always have trouble sleeping at night because of my overactive imagination.

What a coincidence, just a few nights I watched Sleepy Hollow on TV.
