“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

About | Theme: "HANGING" | Roll
Next week "Cloud[s]"

I was seriously thinking that I'd have a photo of the two of us just 'hanging around' at the mall or something, but I instead went with the literal term and photographed something that is actually HANGING

[no, it's not my boobs either!]

This is what's hanging above our back door to the patio. Shrimp netting, fish netting glass floaters [also known today as witches balls] and the 'nameplate' off the Black Pearl [hubby made the name plate]

And this is just to the left of the back door...altho it's not black [he wouldn't let me paint it black, this is a very heavy, very large metal ship of yore. LOL --Hanging on the wall. It's HUGE-it covers one entire wall from window to window.

Our dining room is all nautical. Shells, starfish, harpoons, helms, more 'witches balls', a signed and numbered dolphin print, sailor figurines, compasses, meerschaum carvings, anchors - things like that.

  26. Hi Anni. Your collection of nautical decors is impressive. That's a nice theme for a dining room. I see those glass balls but this is the first time I found out about its interesting name. It's always nice to learn something new.

  28. You and I have so much in common. I intended to do much the same thing (and skip the 'boobs') but no one was around this morning to snap the photo of me 'hanging out on my patio' so I went with something that's been hanging in my bedroom for a long time. It's posted at Sacred Ruminations because Camera Critters and Smiley Saturday are up at Small Reflections.
    Hugs and blessings,

  32. I think those glass floaters are really pretty! It would be neat to see them floating in the ocean. They are much more romantic than those big plastic things.

  35. Nice interpretation of this week's theme. That ship must be enormously heavy if it's as big as you say. Goodness. How do you keep it on the wall?

    have a great weekend!

  44. Nice netting. I particularly like the witches balls. Good choice for the theme.

    I understand that years ago glass blowers would use up the last of their material at the end of the day by creating the witches balls and hang them in their shop or home to ward off evil spririts.

  45. Like your Black Pearl sign! The glass balls are beautiful. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I love Saturdays - I get to visit and be visited by all my Photo Hunters Friends.

  51. Anni,

    I love the witches balls. I've seen many different colors. They are very popular at fleamarkets on Canada's east coast. I've also seen them in antique shops.

    You nautical decor is wonderful and you chose great photos for the hanging theme.

    Have a great Sunday.
    Blessings,
    Mary
