About | Theme: PARTY | Roll
Next week "Different"

Party? Party it is. A challenging subject since I'm not a 'partying-type person'. Sure there have been birthday parties for the kids years ago, and anniversary parties and ::blah, blah, blah:: hubby's government job Christmas parites, wedding parties, office parites...but those, never any pictures taken by me...job/office parties=::boring::. I didn't have time to go searching through all the photo albums this week to find one. This party photo is nothing I took [done by a professional obviously]. It's off the after-Oscars party.

And a 2nd photo I took off our TV screen is of a 'different kind of party'...me at the Democratic Party Rally for Obama last week televised on CNN, as most already know.

It is only rarely that one can see in a little boy the promise of a man, but one can almost always see in a little girl the threat of a woman.
    ~Alexandre Dumas

Hubby and I went to see the newly released "The Other Boleyn Girl". I've read the book, in fact all of Ms. Gregory's books of that era, and I must say this is by far one of the better movies I've seen about Anne Boleyn and her sister [the other Boleyn] Mary. The guy that plays King Henry VIII did a superb job, tho most of the time he didn't resemble what I've seen of Henry's portraits in art. But....he did an excellent job of work, trust me. The period costumes were outstanding! I commend the directors and the actors...the music was very much befitting of the 'time'. The beheading was done tastefully. The mother Lady Elizabeth was good. All very well acted. Actually, there wasn't any ONE particular segment in the movie that I could say 'outshone' any other segment, except for perhaps the alleged incest with her brother George, which in history has only been speculation and was very vehemently denied in the movie also. Just one all around good feature. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys the era of Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I. Or, I'd recommend any of her fictionalized novels also. Perhaps the sad part of this good film, it was released too early for being remembered in February of 2009 [2008 movies], for an Oscar nod and/or too late for the recognition for 2007s movies.

  2. Anni,

The photo of your daughter's prom is wonderful. She is very pretty.

I'm so glad you were able to go to the Obama rally. I know that was special to you and he signed your book, which is terrific.

We do not go to the movie theater. We usually wait until these movies come out on DVD. I will be sure to keep my eye open for this one.

Take care, my friend. Michelle is doing well and Griffyn tired me out. I don't know how his Mom keeps up. He is a hard child to get to sleep.

    Love and blessings,
    Mary

  4. I like the photograph of your daughter with her date. It actually doesn't look as posed as some of those type shots do. They have genuine smiles. I also liked your shot at the Obama rally. I have a democratic party shot too but it is of another candidate. I'm still undecided and by the time my state votes in the primary it will all be over but the shouting which is ok since I'm waffling. I'll definitely vote as I always do (primary, general election, local, national, every chance I get, ha).
    Have a great weekend.

  5. Two different kinds of party but both pertinent to this week's theme. Have a great weekend Anni.
I like all Phillipa Gregory's books in this series too and I am looking forward to seeing the movie.

  7. For me too it was difficult to find something for this theme, I used to party a lot in my youth, but now I am more invited to funeral receptions, lol, due to my high age !
On the picture with Obama he looks like if he is asking you "what do you think about my speach ?"

  9. Hi! I am so glad that I was able to visit you again. Since my connection is slow, I was able to read first your favorite poem by Robert Frost.

I like the new look of the site also.

And they are all correct, your daughter is as lovely as you!

  11. Oh, reminds me of my own Senior Party. She's pretty and well, they look adorable so I understand why you like him best. Lol.

Anyway, Obama seems to have a strong hold looking the pre-election news.

I am also looking forward to Other Boleyn Girl as I love period movies and have watched Elizabeth.

  13. That's a great shot of your daughter. We didn't have proms in England but our leaving party was a blast. Ach was it 27 years ago!

Great shot of you so close to Obama. If I was a US citizen he would be my choice (well he supports the same English soccer team as I do!). Have a great weekend. Shame I don't have a shot of me meeting Tony Blair. Sadly it was work related both times I met him.

  19. Good Morning Anni,
The picture of your Daughter and her boyfriend(back then) is very beautiful. She is a very beautiful young lady. We never had any Winter Dances where I went to School. We had a Homecoming Dance during Football Season and at the end of the year, our Junior/Senior Prom. "THANK YOU" for the review on the Movie of the Other Boleyn Girl. I'm not a big fan of those type of movies, but it does sound really good tho. I will watch for it when it comes out on DVD and rent it then. Glad you got to go to the Obama Party. I know you had a good time. I haven't Partied in years either. Sometimes I would like to tho. LOL. You know just to have a change of scenery or something exciting to do for once. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.

  32. Hi Miss Hoot, I am back home and can comment, it looks as though we are on the opposite side of the political party fence, but I still have democratic friends. Seeing you red hat spot on the side bar I think you will enjoy my party.

  33. Your beautiful daughter looks like a movie star. I thought the picture was from a Celebrity magazine. hehe....

Looks like Obama is going to win the Presidential Election. We people in Asia are watching the contest too as it is crucial to our economy for the next 5 years.

  34. LOL Firt off, love the comment about Texas and Politics.

Came to view photohunt, and as always, found a bunch of other great stuff to read. But with regard to photohunt:

Love the picture of your daughter's winter senior party. It takes me back to my eldest's party and prom days... And just thinking that my youngest two are about to embark on that age!

Second, the Barack Obama pictures. We went to the rally here in Albuquerque and had a WONDERFUL time. I'm only wishing now, looking back, that I'd have thought of political party (thumps head) and posted some of my pictures from that day!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was thinking that I might struggle with this theme, too, since we aren't "party people", either. I love the photo of your daughter and her boyfriend, Anni.

I almost posted a photo of a "political party" party, too, but mine would have been the exact opposite of yours. =) I'm happy for you, dear friend, that you were able to meet Obama and have that experience at the rally. I'm sure you were thrilled.

Have a wonderful weekend - and don't party too hard!

  36. There's a lot of party election going on now.. even in Malaysia next weekend. Nice sharing :)

  57. ahhh, the days of "going steady" -- btw I need a big red arrow pointing to you in the CNN photo -- I've ruled out three of the people in the photo (as I assume you don't have a beard and/or male parts) so that sort of leaves three other faces -- that is unless you are Mr. Obama LOL -- thanks for your regular pop ins -- I look forward to your visits.

  58. I think it was funny you had an older photo of your daughter's prom and her date, just sitting around! And of course, THE Political Party! Great choice! Thanks so much for visiting my hunt...sorry I am a bit late today...thinking of you always sweete
