This past week, when visiting with Grams, she had posted a special graphic with the lyrics to a hymn that has a great deal of meaning to our family. Our grandson has D S. And he loved this song. It calmed him. It made each and everyone of us in our family want to bow down and worship, right then and there!! You see - our grandson 'died' twice before he was saved. One time was in our daughter's arms when he was just weeks old. She revived him with CPR and they rushed him to the hospital with a flight to life helicopter to the larger, more equipped Children's Hospital...eventually they performed open heart surgery on him. At the age of five months.

The specialists and his pediatrician gave us little hope of his surviving beyond the age of five years. To keep the long story of the 'tragedies' during his younger years turning into a year long read....of his will to live, I'll just say he's now going on 19, and has a love interest, Shauna. He's working full time. And to this day, he is so full of love and caring and living his life to the fullest!!! He's my pride and joy!!!! If the world were filled with people like my grandson, what a happy, happy world we'd be living in.

This photo, of my "phavorite" collection, is of our grandson being held by my hubby [snuggled upon Bud's chest -the dark sweater to the left- and so near his heart.] The love of my life...times two!!!

The song that was on her blog that brought me to tears for many reasons [one is that any person inflicted with D S, speech is a difficult function. With this song, our grandson sings and enunciates so well, it makes one wonder of all that the man above can do for us]....
    Light of the world,
    You stepped down into darkness,
    Opened my eyes,
    Let me see.
    Beauty that made this heart adore You;
    Hope of a life spent with You.

    And here I am to worship,
    Here I am to bow down,
    Here I am to say that You're my God;
    You're altogether lovely,
    Altogether worthy,
    Altogether wonderful to me.

    King of all days,
    Oh, so highly exalted,
    Glorious in heaven above;
    Humbly You came
    To the earth you created
    All for love's sake became poor.

    And here I am to worship,
    Here I am to bow down,
    Here I am to say that You're my God;
    You're altogether lovely,
    Altogether worthy,
    Altogether wonderful to me.

    I'll never know how much it cost
    To see my sin upon that Cross,
    I'll never know how much it cost
    To see my sin upon that Cross,
    And I'll never know how much it cost
    To see my sin upon that Cross,
    No, I'll never know how much it cost.

    Here I am to worship,
    Here I am to bow down,
    Here I am to say that You're my God;
    You're altogether lovely,
    Altogether worthy,
    Altogether wonderful to me.

    And here I am to worship,
    Here I am to bow down,
    Here I am to say that You're my God;
    You're altogether lovely;
    Altogether worthy,
    Altogether wonderful,
    Wonderful, wonderful,
    Yes, You are God.

    I'll never know how much it cost
    To see my sin upon that Cross,
    I'll never know how much it cost
    To see my sin upon that Cross.

  3. Dear Sweet Anni..I guess I have not been reading long enough to know your grandsons history, you made water come out of my eyes! As I was reading I thought you had lost him, what a wonderful surprise to read he is 19 and "in love". I have known several people with D.S. and the innocence, love and thoughtfulness always overwhelms me. Someday when we leave this earth and are "transformed" I can not help but wonder if we will have the same outlook as those with D.S. already do. You are one lucky Grandma! (((HUGS)))

  4. Wow, what a wonderful story! We had an older friend with DS and the halting slurred speech that went with it. But, boy howdy, if he was singing anything he sounded so normal. He could also do amazing vocal impressions of people we knew, without the slightest hint of any impediment. Very interesting how the brain works.

  5. Anni,

    I did not know this about your grandson. God is good. I'm so glad that you your prayers were answered.

    I know how scary that must have been. About 3 years ago they thought Brandon had leukemia because his spleen was enlarged. Friends who were powerful prayer warriors were contacted and within 24 hours, people from all over the world were praying for him. The next time he went to the doctor, the spleen was almost back to normal. Prayer is a powerful tool.

    A beautiful and touching post.

    By the way, I left a note for you on my blog telling you about hubby's favorite things in Florida.
    Blessings,
    Mary

  7. Good Morning Anni,
    I came here last night and was reading this and was going to leave a comment then. But, after reading it and just right before I was going to leave a comment, my youngest daughter came up behind me and grabbed a hold of me and told me, "Mommy, I Love You", I just had to click out and just love on our youngest daughter. This is such a touching post. I had tears in my eyes as I read this. "PRAISE GOD" for your Grandson. What do regular doctors know. Only "THE GREAT PHYSICIAN" knows everything. "THANK YOU" for sharing this touching post with us. That song is beautiful as well. Take care my friend and have a great day. I'm going to check out your other post below. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.

  25. Hello Anni,
    What a tear jurker. God is so good. Now to have a grandson who is 19 with a girlfriend. Doctors who do not know God will give little hope, but God the Great Doctor can bring all kinds of hope and joy. What a praise and joy your grandson must be to his parents and grandparents.

    Love and Hugs,
    Joyce
