This week's theme - HOBBY

When I read that "hobby" was the theme this week, I immediately thought of something totally different than the regular meaning ---'craft and/or passtime'. I thought of this, being a Texan by choice----------

This is Hobby Airport...part of the runway system and the terminal/museum....an airport [older airport] in Houston, Texas. The newer one, George Bush International about 30-35 from Katy Texas [a suburb of Houston] is nifty!! I'd prefer to fly into IAH instead of Hobby Airfield.

Named after a governor, I believe. William Hobby. The Hobby family has a great history here in the state of Texas.

Honk if you love peace and quiet.

  2. Neat choice for today! Perfect, actually. I've been to TX a lot (use to have family there) and flew into there, too... tho not Hobby - it was Dallas.

  11. It's always interesting when people take a different spin on the theme. I have family in Katy, TX so I have only been to the airport there. I don't think it was named after GWB when I was there last. Guess it's been a long time!

  14. I have flown into Love Field in Dallas and through DFW (which I think is the absolute most horrid airport in the country) but I am not sure if I ever flew into Hobby. Maybe once in college when I went down for my roommate's wedding.

I went with the typical definition! Just haven't the imagination today!

  19. What a name for an airport, lol ! and only yooouuu didn't respect the word "hobby" although you respected it, but not like all the others. That's great ! Can you imagine your name would be Hobby ? and your first name Lucky ?

And I miss your ball dress today !!

  20. That's a great take on the theme! Is the Hobby airport still in use, or is it just a museum? I love that second shot. Happy Hunting :)

  23. * *ANGELO: I'm not sure, it's been several years since these photos were taken....now that Bush International is opened, that is the preferred airport in Houston.

I do know it's probably close to 70-80 years old, the airport.

  28. I like the jet image. You can't really tell if it is take-off or landing, but near the edge, it makes it look like a take-off.

  29. Great photo! In fact, it took me a long time to get there because of all the beauty that came before it (and the laughs: the gato vomito pic is totally great!). See you next week!
